Break up Letter:
To show your understanding of why the colonists wanted to “breakup” with King George III, you will create some form of “breakup letter. In this breakup letter, you will need to incorporate then briefly ANALYZE 8 reasons/experiences from the perspective of the colonist.
Example:
1. You were so nice to me in the beginning of our relationship then all of a sudden you changed. (Britain support for colonial migration)
2. I always had to pay for all of our dates. "I forgot my wallet Bae." (colonist paying for taxes)
Step 1:
1. Download the instructions (for extra support) I passed a copy out to you in class.
2. Fill out the document. It is going to give you background on some of the reasons the colonist wanted to end things with Britain.
3. You can use the information from the document in your letter along with any events or acts from your Road to Revolution books.
Step 2:
You will be writing a standard letter to George, Georgina, Britney. (Or a friendship)
1. Basic letter from the colonist to George III in modern times
2. Your reason/experience will be followed by your analysis (reasons for breaking up). Analyzation must be in a different color and must)
Please make remember the purpose of the letter is to show your understanding of why the colonist wanted to "break up" with Britain.
Colonist Reasons/Experiences:
1. Taxes
2. Sugar Act (cutting off trade with other countries)
3. Quartering Act (soldiers there to spy/intimidate colonist want for Independence)
4. Common Sense (bang bang, distance, own identity)
5. First Continental/2nd Continental Congress:
-List of Grievance
-Olive Branch Petition
