Thursday Jan. 5th-10th: The Age of Jackson
We all know Jackson from the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812 as a decorated war hero in the eyes of many Americans. We have all seen him on the twenty dollar bill. America has honored him for his achievements by immortalizing him on the most commonly distributed currency. Many would argue that his achievements were less the moral/unconstitutional and he does not deserve to hold this great honor of being remembered on American currency. His actions have been questioned and he has been viewed more as a King than as a President. (Dubbed King Andrew)
Jackson’s Presidency can be epitomized by 3 significant events/actions that greatly impacted America and its future. Three main topics:
1. Jacksonian Democracy
2. Removal of Native Americans
3. War on the Bank

Topics and Subtopics
Jackson’s motto seemed to be "To the victor belong the spoils," and he certainly employed the "spoils system".One of his first acts was to fire dozens of federal employees, some who had been there since the days of George Washington. In their place he appointed people who had supported him. These appointments did not always work out so well. One member had to quit after having a well publicized affair.
